Avianca is the largest airline in Colombia, Ecuador, and Central America, with its main hub at El Dorado Airport in Bogotá. The project focuses on the design of one of the VIP lounges the airline offers its customers. The Diamond Lounge was born from the idea and opportunity to showcase to the world the beauty and richness of Colombia—a sea of flowers. Drawing inspiration from the concept of an orchid, the design is refined, elegant, and exclusive, perfectly meeting the needs of every customer profile.
The project begins on the duty-free floor, creating an opportunity to highlight the brand. Then, upon reaching the second floor, passengers are welcomed by an imposing reception framed by a distinctive shelving structure. Beyond the reception, guests encounter a coffee experience, the perfect way to begin a journey. Next is an intermediate lounge-style area, which leads into the impressive bar. The final area of the project is the dining and buffet space. The intention was to create distinct moments to bring dynamism to the space. To maintain the corporate identity and luxurious character of the project, we opted for an earthy color palette combined with metallic finishes.
Without a doubt, one of the project’s greatest challenges was proposing freestanding structures that would help adjust the overall scale of the space. Since architectural construction was not possible, furniture selection was also critical to the project. The client sought flexibility, privacy, and exclusivity, but because walls could not be built, the furniture itself had to create that sense of privacy without interrupting the circulation and flow of the space. Designing custom millwork was an effective exercise that helped us create blurred boundaries to organize each area.
